Lucie will be a junior at UCLA in the fall. Orignially from Minnesota, she now hails from southern California. A mild obsession with languages has led her to study Spanish, Arabic and Swedish, and may result in an Arabic language major. She can usually be found reading, dancing, playing soccer or frisbee, or sleeping.

roomates and friends

This year I'm living in a triple apartment (two rooms and our own bathroom) with my friends Christina and Lauren. Christina's boyfriend Cyrus lives two floors up with our friend Terry, so we have a lot of fun going back and forth between rooms. We all went to a Michigan hockey game a couple of weeks ago, where these pictures were taken.

Red River pictures

The bridge at the trailhead.
It was absolutely gorgeous on our first morning.
The rain began on day three...and continued until we left the park.
Corey and I having fun.
Me pumping river water through a filter to fill our water bottles.
All of us attempting to dry our socks via open flame.
This is our whole group underneath an awesome rock formation.
The view from the top of one of the bluffs. As you can see, it was incredibly gorgeous.
.One of many little rivers we had to cross. They were so cold!
This is me at the top of our first big hill.

Red River Backpacking Trip

Over fall break (three weekends ago) I went backpacking in the Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky with a University of Michigan program called Outdoor Adventures. Two leaders, Simon and Jen, took me and 8 other kids to the Red River Gorge and led us on a 4-day, 28 mile adventure that took us up hill and down dale, through rivers and down narrow paths, and across a very cool suspension bridge. These are some of the pictures that Simon took throughout the weekend.

day 1

Despite having an inordinate number of internet profiles, I decided that a blog might be a good idea so that my family can regularly see what I'm up to. Since I've been so bad about sending out emails, this might be a better way to keep everyone updated. We'll see how it goes...
